A new book by Necole Belanger (CWO Ret'd)—a CMPA member who's 35-year military career included 26 years with the Military Police Branch—has recently been published by Double Dagger Books Ltd. This book is now available from the CMPA's Military Police Kit Shop, as well as directly from amazon.ca.
"Pride Amid Prejudice" is the story of Necole's struggles as a lesbian member of the CAF during a period when the institution, and many of its individual personnel, did not always embrace women or LGBTQ members in its ranks. Her book is a story of self-discovery through adversity, of resilience in the face of discrimination, and of pride amid prejudice. Ultimately, Necole's book is a courageous cri de cœur meant to inspire change.
The Military Police Kit Shop has stocked a number of signed and unsigned copies of Pride Amid Prejudice, which are available for sale here. Necole is donating all royalties from books sold through the kit shop to the Canadian Forces Military Police Academy's History & Heritage Fund.
Unsigned copies are also available online from amazon.ca. Scanning the QR code, on the left, will take you to the appropriate Amazon page.
Necole is also offering to write a personal inscription and autograph any unsigned books purchased from the kit shop or Amazon. She can be contacted directly, for details about the process, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
