Ordinary membership in the CMPA is voluntary and is open to all serving or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces Military Police Branch (Regular or Reserve Force) and its antecedents (e.g., Security Branch, Canadian Provost Corps, RCAF Police, RCN Regulating Branch, etc). Ordinary members have full voting rights and may serve on the Executive Committee. The CMPA also has associate and honorary membership categories for certain people who do not meet the ordinary membership criteria.
Learn more about the benefits of CMPA membership here.
To join the CMPA, please complete an online application form (either English or French version) found here. There are no more annual membership dues and ordinary membership is now for life:
Any person who previously received a CMPA departure gift or Retired MP credentials will become a lifetime ordinary member upon application at no further cost. You may be requested to provide a photograph of your departure gift or retired credentials.
Any person who previously paid annual membership dues for at least five consecutive years may become a lifetime ordinary member upon application at no further cost. Please note that the Membership Director may require your assistance to determine when you paid.
Any former ordinary member who either missed annual payments or paid their dues sporadically is considered to be delinquent in their dues (i.e., is NOT in good standing). In order to become a lifetime ordinary member in good standing you must pay your delinquent annual dues up to a maximum of five years ($125).
Any eligible person who wishes to become an ordinary member for the first time can pay a one-time fee of $250 for lifetime membership.
New graduates of the MP QL3 and MPOC courses will receive a discount of $50 toward lifetime ordinary membership. This offer is valid for one year beginning on the course graduation date.
Full details about CMPA membership can be found in By-law 1 (Membership Procedures) here. Please note that all payments are now done online through the CMPA MP Kit shop. Payments by cash, cheque, money order or e-transfer will not be accepted.
Once your application has been received and processed, you will be notified by email.
