CMPA Membership Update

Changes to the CMPA Membership, Departure Gift, and Retired Credentials bylaws now make it easier to become and remain a member in good standing of the CMPA and be eligible for departure gifts and retired MP credentials.
Here is a step-by-step guideline to the changes.

STEP ONE – Membership (By-Law 1)

The first step in obtaining a departure gift and/or retirement credentials is to be a member in good standing.  We have made this easier by redefining the membership categories by opening them up and changing the renewal period for regular member to Lifetime.
Please read By-law 1- Membership for definitions. In short, any MP (Regular or Reserve) who is attending, or has completed, a Regular Force MP QL3 or MPOC is qualified to be a regular member of the CMPA.  This also includes former Provost Corp, Air Force Police and Naval Regulating Staff.  The definitions of Honorary and Associate members were also redefined.
Any regular member who has previously received a CMPA departure gift or Retired MP credentials will become a Lifetime member upon application at no further cost.  You may be requested to provide a photograph of your departure gift or retired credentials.
Any regular member who has paid dues for at least five (5) consecutive years may become a Lifetime member free of charge; however, you must submit a membership application. Please note that the Membership Director may require your assistance to determine when you paid.
Any regular member who has either missed annual payments or paid their dues sporadically, is considered to be a member NOT in good standing. In order to be a member in good standing, you must pay a one-time payment of $125.
Anyone who wishes to join the CMPA for the first time, can pay a one-time fee of $250 and become a life-time CMPA member.
Anyone who is on a MP QL3 or MPOC course will receive a discount of $50.  This offer is only valid until the graduation date of their course and the money will be refunded should they be unsuccessful on their course. To obtain a code for your entire course, please have your CFMPA staff email mpkitshop@gmail.com
On the rear of all Lifetime Membership cards will be a code to obtain a discount from the MP Kit shop.
Membership applications are available from the CMPA Website (online form) and payments can be made online via the MP Kit Shop.
Questions regarding your membership may be emailed to cmpamembership@gmail.com

STEP TWO – Departure Gift (By-Law 5)

All members of the CMPA are entitled to a once in a lifetime departure gift, at no cost, when leaving the MP Branch.  Credentialled MP may receive their MP Badge mounted in a shadow box with an appropriately engraved name plate.  Non-credentialled MP and other CMPA members will receive a gift approved by the CMPA Executive.
The departure gift is only given to CMPA members in good standing when they initially depart the CF and is meant to be given at a Depart with Dignity Ceremony.  CMPA members who have already received a previously issued departure gift or who applied after they have released, may purchase a shadow box with a Veteran or Retired MP Badge in place of their original badge from the CMPA Kit Shop.
The first step in this process is to ensure you are a member in good standing, applications will not be processed if you have outstanding fees.
The next step is to accurately complete the CMPA Departure Gift/Retired Credentials Form and send it to cmpadeparturegift@gmail.com.  It must be typed and accurate.  Handwritten submissions will not be entertained.
The CMPA kit shop has a business agreement with a Laser Engraving Company that will create the name plates for the shadow boxes at a very reasonable rate.  They use high tech equipment that reads information that is cut and pasted from your form onto a spreadsheet.  Replacement plates are available from the CMPA Kit Shop should there be an error.
Please allow 6-8 weeks to obtain you shadow box due to the time it takes to obtain all the pieces.  HINT:  Don’t wait until the last minute to return your badge.  Depending on leave and availability of personnel, it may take 6 weeks for your badge to be received by the MP Kit Shop.  Further processing of your application cannot begin until your badge is obtained.

STEP THREE - Retired Credentials (By-Law 6)

NEW:  A “Veteran” MP Badge is available to credentialed MP who have released prior to being awarded an annuity (either medical or regular).  Credentialed MP who have earned an annuity will continue to receive a “Retired” MP Badge while others will receive a “Veteran” MP Badge. A member entitled to a "Retired" Badge has the option to choose a "Veteran" badge if desired.
Any member of the CMPA who was a credentialled MP and is fully retired or released from the CAF may purchase either Retired or Veteran MP Credentials from the CMPA Kit Shop, some restrictions apply.
Previously, a person needed to renew their CMPA membership every 5 years at a cost of $125 to retain their retired credentials.  This is no longer the case as there is no longer an expiry date on the credential cards; however, replacement ID cards are available from the CMPA Kit Shop at a very low cost should you wish to change it.
The first step in this process is to ensure you are a member in good standing, applications will not be processed if you have outstanding debts.
The next step is to purchase your retired/veteran MP credentials from the CMPA Kit Shop.
Finally, complete the combined Departure Gift Application form or the Retired Credentials Application form
If you have any further questions, please contact either the CMPA Departure Gift coordinator at cmpadeparturegift@gmail.com or the MP Kit Shop Manager at mpkitshop@gmail.com
