DUGGAN, Donald L., CD, ESM January 11, 1939 - February 16, 2010 Don was predeceased by his parents Don and Alma Duggan. He is survived by his wife, Susanna; and his sister Doreen (Barry) of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia. Don also leaves behind his four children, Deborah (Stan), Duluth, MN; Heather, Calgary, AB; Cathleen, Calgary, AB; Keith, Calgary, AB; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; six stepchildren, James (Janice), Calgary, AB; Andy, Fort McMurray, AB; Nicole (Shawn), Port Coquitlam, BC; Lorraine (Ken), Grande Prairie, AB; Mike (Marilyn), Calgary, AB; Dallas, Calgary, AB; ten step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Don attended St. Mary's University in Halifax, majoring in History; Mount Royal College in Calgary, majoring in Criminology. Don spent twenty-two years of his life as a Military Policeman serving in Egypt, Golan Heights and Cyprus. He was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, the UN Peacekeeping Medal, the Nobel Peace Prize Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD). After leaving the Forces, Don worked as a Correctional Officer at The Calgary Remand Centre and then as a youth worker at the Calgary Young Offender Centre from which he retired in 2004. In March 2003, Don received the Exemplary Service Medal (ESM) to acknowledge his twenty years of service in corrections from the Alberta Solicitor General. Don and his wife Susanna moved to Parksville, BC in 2006 where they became actively involved in the community and with their church. Don did so much for so many and touched a lot of people's lives in a very special way. Funeral Service to be held on March 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, BC.
